New York City Chapter - NAIW

NAIW-NYC is an active and vibrant chapter of the National Association of Insurance Women based in New York City. We are a non-profit association of insurance professionals made up of women and men dedicated to the development of leaders in the insurance industry through education, networking, charity and industry alliance.

NAIW members represent all types and lines of insurance including agents, brokers, claims associates, attorneys, consultants and anyone involved in the industry.

NAIW-NYC supports and volunteers in many charitable events in the New York City area such as the Back Pack Drive and Family Holiday Drive; for Sanctuary for Families; CancerCare's "Candy Drive" and "Kids Under the Sea Gala; Dress for Success's Suit Drive.

► Meetings

NAIW-NYC offers networking meetings throughout the year featuring a variety of speakers and venues. We continue to believe that New York City and its wonderful venues is an "official" member of the NYC Chapter. Most of the suggestions for speakers and venues come from our members.

A recent special event was held at the Battery Garden Restaurant in lower Manhattan, which overlooks the NYC harbor and the Statue of Liberty. NAIW-NYC has hosted this annual September Kickoff meetings at this venue a much anticipated and well-attended networking event.

Helen M. Garvin Award

Two women are honored each year for their contribution to the insurance industry with the Helen M. Garvin Outstanding Achiever Award and the Enterprising Achiever Award. These honors are presented at the Annual Luncheon each May, this year being held May 18th. For information contact Demi Sophocleous at dsophocleous@morrisonmahoney.com.

Taylor, Colicchio & Silverman Scholarship

The NAIW-NYC scholarship is generously provided by, and named for, the law firm of Taylor, Colicchio & Silverman. ► Annual Luncheon

The NAIW-NYC annual Luncheon is held each year in May; usually a sold-out event. Last year it was held again at the Tribeca Rooftop on May 20, 2011. In previous years this popular event, usually attended by 400 individuals from the insurance industry, has been held at other exciting venues in the NYC area including The Boat House in Central Park.
